THE FIVE DAY WAR

It's been Five days.
You've been counting backwards for a long time,
and the time has arrived.
It's been Five days since.

There's a memory you've been trying to run away from..
Finally, you do.
But memories come back uninvited
What will you do ?

Some wires you didn't cut off yet, when you decided to let go.
Some wires got newly tied.
How will you blame a scar from the battle,
being a reminder of the hundreds that died.

I'm a memoir you picked from the battlefield,
And chose to bring me home.
So you choose whether to recall the smile of that child,
or the times when the screams were wild.

It's been Five days
and you look quite the same.
You don't really absorb the air you breathe.
You don't miss where you're not
And that's okay.

I watch you think without intention.
Walk without a destination.
The horrors from the war come back to haunt you still.
The pictures will blur but they're not supposed to die,
Embrace it , face it, let it go if you need to cry.

It's been Five days
and they will be more...
Keep counting forward for a long time.....

It's only been twenty two years since.
